What Is Tom Ridge's REAL record on abortion?

On Monday, October 19, former State College abortion clinic director, Eric Harrah, joined Constitutional candidate Peg Luksik for a press conference in Harrisburg.

At that conference, Mr. Harrah stated:
  • When he was denied a transfer agreement with the local hospital, he believed he would be unable to open the abortion clinic. As a last effort, he called the PA Dept. of Health and threatened to sue them in federal court. He never expected it to work since people threaten to sue the state every day. Three hours later, the Dept. of Health granted him a waiver. It was a waiver he never expected!

  • The abortion mill In State College carried no liability insurance.

  • Mr. Harrah himself wrote the medical manuals which were approved by the Pennsylvania Dept. of Health during the clinic inspection process. Mr. Harrah has less then 2 years of college and majored in Political Science.

  • The 24-hour waiting period was "met" by phone. Anyone standing by the phone when it rang read from a script. The woman never knew that she had not spoken to a doctor.

  • When the original operators of the State College abortion clinic were denied their lease in a court decision, the operators moved ownership of the clinic to a different corporation. The Abortion Control Act requires new clinics (legally, new owners = new clinic) to complete the licensing process from scratch, which normally takes a few months. The Dept. of Heath granted the new clinic owners their new license in one week!

  • Dr. Brigham, the owner of State College's mill, has decided that it is so easy to open abortion clinics here in Pennsylvania that he is planning 3 more in the next year - in Allentown, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh!

Not to be left behind, Planned Parenthood is opening another abortion mill in Lancaster. The newspaper in Lancaster reports that PP says it doesn't need a transfer agreement with the local hospital.

That's five new abortion mills in pro-life Pennsylvania in two years - mills that could be prevented with vigorous enforcement of the Abortion Control Act.

The abortion industry has found a friend in Pennsylvania - and he sits in the Governor's Chair!
