On Friday, July 31, 1998, Constitutional Party candidates, Peg Luksik and James Clymer, will file their petitions to enter the race for Governor and Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania. The Luksik/Clymer team expects to file nearly three times the number required by law. According to Campaign Manager, Dr. Robin Bernhoft, "This enthusiastic response indicates the growing dissatisfaction of the voters with our so-called 'major parties.' In recent years, both the Democrat and the Republican leadership has ignored the concerns and the convictions of large numbers of potential voters. They have tried to place the blame for low voter turnout on the citizens, when, in reality, it is their failure to inspire and motivate via competent, courageous leadership."

Signatures will be presented from nearly every county in Pennsylvania, "an amazing accomplishment considering that the Constitutional Party has only been in existence since 1994," added Dr. Bernhoft. This year's campaign slogan "SOAR with Luksik" is based on the theme of Saving Our American Rights. This plan was spelled out in an eight-page newspaper being distributed by their campaign.

"Recent endorsements of the Governor by traditionally Democratic organizations suggest that (in their minds) there is essentially no difference between Democrats and Republicans. While this may be true of a few opportunistic leaders and career politicians, it is not true of their members. It will be the endorsement of these loyal Americans on election day that will make Peg Luksik the next Governor of Pennsylvania," concluded Dr. Bernhoft.
