For Immediate Release
October 16, 1998 Contact: Anne Zelnosky (814) 942-2723 Gubernatorial candidate, Peg Luksik, will hold a PRESS CONFERENCE at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 1998 in the Capitol Rotunda, Harrisburg. She will call attention to the Governor's failure to enforce the provisions of the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act, which has allowed a clinic to open in State College, Pennsylvania right next to Penn State University. Mrs. Luksik will be accompanied by Mr. Eric Harrah, former Director of the abortuary in State College. Mr. Harrah, in a recent interview with Dr. Jack Willke alluded to "secret agreements and secret deals with officials." "Furthermore, since 1981, the Pennsylvania legislature has withheld public funds from so-called family planning organizations which distribute contraceptives to minors without parental consent. Mr. Ridge changed that policy and, in addition, gave them direct access to low income women by allowing Planned Parenthood to send their brochures to all Medical Assistance recipients at taxpayer expense," said Mrs. Luksik. "This kind of social engineering must come to an end." |
